Demonstrating the polar pattern of the Schoeps CMC 6 capacitor microphone fitted with the MK 2H omnidirectional capsule. Check out the Audio Masterclass Music Production and Sound Engineering Course at bit.ly/3W3tpKo
In theory an omnidirectional microphone should be equally sensitive all round. In practice however there is often a falling off in the high frequency response towards the rear. In this demonstration you will hear the effect of this on speech. In this example, you should take note mainly of the direct sound rather than the reverberation of the studio. According to the manufacturer's specification, there will be a loss of around 6 dB at 8 kHz.
