Sometimes, perhaps because of difficult circumstances, a recording will be noisy. But if it is trimmed so that it start directly with the wanted signal, then it will sound much cleaner. Equally, it is neater and cleaner to trim and/or fade the noise at the end so that the recording ends nicely with as little noise as possible.
