@zombienation68: I can pretty much guarantee Tom is wishing he had quoted £100 to fix that popped tantalum now 😂
@Buuresack: Wie sind denn die Kommentare der Korrupten sogenannten Fachjournalisten die diese Kiste getestet haben ?.
@OscarJung-bw8bs: It was not legitimate..... I hope Mark gets a serious learning, as an entrepreneur, I hope he does go semi bankrupt, but maybe he survives, even if completely overpriced, there are some good ideas in his design. but really I think few people will buy it.
@Robert-bg1cm: 25000$ preamp !! The recording studio doesn't use that expensive of gear, fools buying junk lol.
@taxidude: Mark is the most savvy technician I have seen on YT. If he gave something a bad review, I would take it as gospel.
@adrianyardley3541: Clearly 99% of these comments are from individuals who have never heard Tom Evans equipment, and this is a sad trolling of a niche manufacturer who hasn't deep pockets to address libel. Behaviour of seagulls after a sandwich. So after you ate this sandwich, do you feel better or more educated? Are you a better seagull? btw some allegations are erroneous, so imagine....
@Matthew-jg9us: Mark and Tom: Genius and Geniuser. There is no such thing as bad publicity, apparently. Brilliant channel. Superb pre-amp. Lovinit guys!
@pittbrat7963: Tom Evans overpriced junk is not an exception in the audio industry.
@karlos543: A 'Mugs Eyeful '.
@philshifley4731: I've never heard of this Tom Evans character. I just watched the video. Tom Evans and his preamp seem like a real POS.
@donny121able: Selling products to those with more money than sense, he got outed for his shoddy products and also tried to charge a ridiculous repair bill claiming no one else could repair it. He is a fraud.
@ResortDog: Bingo. My vicious convict competitor out to hurt us made strikes on common words and public picture he did not even own as he was a criminal operating out of a reversible trust from a prison. That is the person slandering the honest Swordfish Mining.
@Bobbybooboo505: £25k for that amp .. ufff no chance, how many decent reliable amps you could buy for that …get a top notch Ducati for that ..
@hollydatsopoulos7998: I’ve been watching Mend it Mark for years! I love his videos, and his down-to-earth attitude! He seems like a good guy! So, when I saw this video, I decided to watch it, only to find it was gone! I have since watched it from another channel, and just had to laugh! $25,000? For THAT? I will give him the fact that the unit is full of electronics, and not a case with lots of empty space. But, for that kind of money, that case should be solid, not cheap plastic! And if you don’t want to look like a fool, maybe DON’T send your broken amp to Mark, and tell him he can’t fix it! The guy shot himself in the foot, not once, not twice, but three times! First, by sending the amp to Mark, second by telling Mark he couldn’t fix it, and third, for striking the video down for copyright violation! Now, everyone knows what a fool he is! Good luck selling any more of those units for $25,000! It’s maybe worth $2,500, but not $25,000! And even $2,500 is pushing it for me.
@Aragorn6519: Who pays that much for a cheep plastic hunk of junk anyway. That's probably why they don't want anyone to see the video.
@AstuteClippy: Louis will deal with Dictator Tom no doubt. 💪😎
@jimduk: "petulance" from a PrimaDonna audio company ? "bureaucratic incompetency" from youtube ?
@danielson101: totally nonsense, im on Marks side!
@madeinedmundston: If Louis Rossmann can challenge Apple and the states of New-York in Court,i think he can handle Tom Evans Audio. His copy of mark video still up ,we never had any other news about it.
Tom Evans likely did crap their pants. 😂
The Streisand effect is on another level of FAFO here on youtube 👌
@vladnickul: People from jolida mcintosh and mactone helped me repair and restore my gear :) some even sale me new parts and send hand written notes attached to the service manual to perfectly tune the machines. Nice people HONEST people and decent companies!
I imagine Tom is the kind of dude that will ask 5.000€ for a similar repair, a service manual ? :)) what is that??! :)))you will build machines in the garage and ruin the company :))
@TTVEaGMXde: There are phono preamplifiers that are so bad that they do not require any copyright to not be copied😉
@jaym5938: System? What system...? It's all Bots/AI doing the moderating; so, there's no system, just deranged AI and why no proper consideration or response is given. Makes it easy for bogus copyright claims. Tom Evans is a right C 'in my opinion.'
@fraserthomson5766: I find it hilarious that Tom Evens actually sent it to Mark for repair via Royal Mail 2nd class! Clearly it wasn't particularly valuable to the manufacturer, and possibly dropped, but evidently a cheapo generic design where all the labour was apparently shaving the markings off all the chips. Clearly an act of self-immolation on Tom's behalf.. lol
@74wrighty: YES ITS BROKEN YOUTUBE
@puffery-z7u: In order for something to be broken means it must have worked at some point, YouTube's copyright system has never worked, it's been abused as a tool to silence creates from day one.
@mikrophonie5633: Those people who mess with you should be careful, they don't know you're a sinister neo-folk artist who can summon dark forces to do his bidding.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @mikrophonie5633: That was a long time ago. I'm better now.
@snarfusmaximus: All this bullshit brought my attention to Mark's awesome channel, which I didn't know about beforehand. I subscribed after watching a couple of videos. I hope I wasn't the only one.
@mirabilis: Someone please open source the schematics. 😂
@jim586: Sorry to open old wounds.
Are you aware of the latest developments of this story?
Interesting. 🤔
@qzwxecrv0192837465: had to look at the Tom Evans website. Looks like something out of the early 2000's. Lots of hot air, no actual specifics, technical details, etc of his equipment, just claiming it is high end, specific, intricate, etc.....like an infomercial, you know the ones that sell junk but use big words to make you feel like it is of a quality build.
@gorkushka: Unmasking the Narcissistic Personality of Tom Evans
@stevenclarke5606: £25,000 for this pre amp , I can see why they wanted it taken down, because it exposes the very simple design
@duncanmcneill7088: I watched Mark’s video all the way through and the impression that I got was that the sound quality and technical spec might well be exceptional - it’s just the build quality and after sales service that is wanting.
Audiophiles might be willing to overlook those shortcomings for a truly sonically outstanding hand built preamp.
No, I don’t believe that either...
@davidgoliat8757: El fabricante consiguió el efecto contrario 😂😂
@joefish6091: Don't use the word bogus, use the word HILARIOUS. humor and satire are legal. use comedy, do little scenes making fun of a 'target',
@AudioMasterclass replies to @joefish6091: You probably missed my first video on this topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93QlQN_1yUA
@candidmoe8741: "Justice" is a weapon for the rich and powerful.
@royshaft: Boss , iv'e f'd up .
How bad ?
Tom Evans bad !
@investor.z: “I have no idea of the original copyright claim was valid”
Yes. Yes you do. You know.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @investor.z: I’m not a lawyer and not even lawyers know for sure until a judge has ruled.
@randycarter2001: "Is the system broken?" Absolutely! No people are involved, only machines. Evans never provided a detailed explanation of what was copyrighted. He just said it was and filled in the blank on the screen. And the machine never asked for the relevant details, just automatically launched its take down program.
@hansvanderlinden6545: Knowing the vids of Mark and thus knowing his capabilities and his humble character I can answer with "yes". The natd-process is clearly fucked up.
Everyone loses.
If I were Evans i'd keep my mouth shut and earn money by selling the 10 machines (with wobbely fitted pcb's and so on) to the oblivious and loaded persons.
Now the video of Mark goes Viral (with capital V). Can't wait to see Evans' 2025 annual report.
@geezberry8889: preposterous of YT. I supposed any videos of car repairs should be taken down?
@Ken_Dodds_Tickling_Stick: Tom Evans was named and shamed by Mark's video for scamming people out of £25k for a unit that made Amstrad stuff look like B&O 😂😂😂
@utubecomment21: Tom Evans, hopefully gone.
Paul McGowan of PS Audio, we're coming for you next, for the cheap garbage you produce, of which Mend It Mark has also had on his channel
@TheNefastor: Never heard of Tom and my first introduction to him is his crappy-ass preamp. All because of his reaction. Well done Tom.
@endrizo: tom evans is an a s s hole..he is having problems with everyone. just read the text in his webpage.. and his face.
@carlingtonme: Men it Marks video is all over youtube😀
@Madmacman4296: Mr Evans was piss because Mark exposes that scam called High End plastic shoe box build by a 10 years old child.
That's why all this scam explode all over.
Now ,most buyers thinking twice to buy that preamp On my opinion that was the main issue, the tricks are over.
Mark is a great guy simple an extreme well knowledge person ,he did exactly like any professional Tech guy do all the time.
I'm noticed at the begining of the video Mark make some comments about Mr Evans test equipment because Mark has the same maybe that was the tiping point or the fact ls any high tech can repair that unit an customer save tons of money cutting Mr Evans service resources.
Finally there's nothing special about that unit to me way over priced Dan Dagostino makes real high end preamps top noch quality for the same money.
@jasoncampbell5518: Their are millions of videos of copyrighted material on YouTube and they do nothing. But as soon as a shit bag doesn't like being exposed for the POS they are and they falsely copyright claim your videos. Suddenly Youtube and Google doesn't give a shit if it's legitimate or not !
@suadcokljat1045: Escalation of this is amazing 😂
@iiwearLingerie: It's hilarious reading old reviews of this thing and knowing now that nobody knew what they were talking about 😂😂
@Okurkaarrgghh: Mark doesn't know why the video got taken down so calling it a bogus claim would be libel.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @Okurkaarrgghh: You may be right. But you don’t seem to have a name so your words are worthless.
@Okurkaarrgghh replies to @Okurkaarrgghh: @AudioMasterclass You don't seem to have common sense.
@C00ltronix: Copyrights where used because YouTube acts on it and other potential violations simply did not apply. Copyrights are also kinda hard to grasp. Just perfect.
@TractorMonkeywithJL: Youtube is gutless and will cave at any threat.
@MrHristoB: I've been following Mark for some time now, he's brilliant electronics engineer, very rare troubleshooting skills. Now on the 25k preamp. Look folks, I repair "High end" equipment for a living, with price tags 30k and above, so I've seen "high end" first hand. For that price (the amp), unless you build it entirely from aerospace grade components, don't even talk to me about high end. Never mind the inside layout looks like his source of parts is some online retailer and plastic standoffs from China that go for 5 euro a box. Enclosure panels padded with cardboard, made of cheap perspex or whatever, and so on... As far as the "creator's" test equipment, well, nothing stunningly different from even Mark's workshop equipment. And Mark's troubleshooting skills, well that's already HIGH END.
@wholiddleolme476: I was fortunate to have watched the original video and I can see why the manufacturer wanted it taken down: There is no way that thing is worth anywhere close to 25,000 pounds, maybe a more reasonable asking price would be 1/10th of that, but even that would be a stretch imo.
@brafya: googling tom evans audio is already littered with negative results, reputation permanently destroyed lol. well done tom evans.
@pilotpirx4252: Its in litigation now. Thieves of copyrights are going to pay dearly and the internet mob can only squeal
@phillipsofthedriver: Funny thing is, the build quality of the circuitry seems good enough to be better than a cheap radio shack pre-amp for magnetic cartridge record players. But 25K quid, and only 10 a year? Tom is freaking insane, using cheap standoffs for the circuit boards that are easily broken in shipping. I really hope Tom copyright strikes Louis Rossmann for re-uploading. He has a massive warchest for this kind of thing and will DESTROY that company. I'll stick with my super cheap but still functional pre-amp that survived cat piss.
@BuzzardSalve: System sounds broken to me. Designed to make money for lawyers no doubt :(
@Micjoh: Tom Evans I suspect will be regretting trashing his reputation amongst the audiofools.
@luigicirelli2583: I see it well; the system is broken, since it can be abused by the illiberals
@theonlyegg: YouTube's censorship and copyright policies are GARBAGE.
@TheSaabClinicUK: Ive seen the video now, and Mark did a great job of fixing that £250 pre amp. Dont know what Mr Evans issue is. Other than the mistake he made adding some extra zeros on the price by mistake.
@VanguardSys: i find it disturbing and sad that everyone is afraid of youtube - leave the platform or be subject to the stupidity
@AudioMasterclass replies to @VanguardSys: I’m more afraid of the UK libel laws. The defendant has to prove innocence and monetary liability is unlimited.
@VanguardSys replies to @VanguardSys: @AudioMasterclass agreed - sadly england has fallen - the sun finally has set - come here!!!
@christopherward5065: Mend it Mark demonstrated that the repair was not a £6000 job. The fault was found quickly and the fix was simple. Ironically it revealed the Preamp is a home-made prototype. The structure made it damage prone . Development of circuit board design would mean fewer boards populated by machinery instead. Matching cases and ease of servicing could be another advantage. Doubtless it is a super-competent piece of kit despite TE charging a premium for his labour. This whole episode is a reputation collapse for Evans. He should hand this test-bench prototype to a company to professionally industrially design it. There’s no need to hand build 10 preamps per year, especially when the result doesn’t feel like it’s £25,000 worth.
@DeezY-1119: It sucks when ya get totally exposed. What else can ya say?
There is no single piece of audio gear that's worth $30,000. If you have the type of $$$ to throw at that type of gear, more power to ya...but you're being fleeced. Period. Full stop.
@roguemodel: Evans just got really pissed that he was unmasked as a charlatan. Even the case was cheap; at $30,000, you would expect an aluminum case and strong construction.
@DelticEngine: Most of the 'other' copies of Mark's original video are actually, only low resolution and it's simply not possible to read the details on screen. The original video contains enough detail copy or clone significant parts of it. In the light of this, I can fully understand a copyright takedown on the video.
If the original video had featured reference designs and principles from publicly available datasheets, instead of what appeared to be the actual design of the preamplifier, then I think it unlikely there would have been any copyright strike in the first place. Taking someone else's work that was not public and then making it so should have been an obvious red flag.
@stargazer7644 replies to @DelticEngine: You don't have any understanding of what copyright is. If you make a widget, and I buy it, it's mine. I can take it apart, make videos of it, post high resolution photographs of it if I want to. In fact, all of those posted media would be copyrighted - by ME.
@DelticEngine replies to @DelticEngine: @stargazer7644 Except that you DON'T own it in that you don't own the copyright or the rights to it in any way.
If I designed my own widget that was not a copy of anyone else's then I ALONE would own the rights and copyright to it, not you or anyone else. I can sell the rights to my design if I want to, but other wise they are mine.
If someone chooses to give my work away who does not own the rights or copyright then I am perfectly entitled to legal compensation as it becomes, in effect and for the purposes of my own example only, a stolen work.
This is why companies have to be so very careful about designs they come up with, that they are 'unique' enough to avoid getting sued.
Hypothetically, if I was to post a video here that effectively made the designs of someone else's product available for nothing, or even worse monetised the video so that I gained financially from the information, then I would expect to be hearing from that company's legal people for giving away or gaining from someone else's work when I did not have permission to do so.
@yc-tai: Money buys everything, always have to pay for justice...
@imjustherefortheks: Now he has another subscriber (me).
@aidysas: Well done. 👍👍👍
@Scoochie77: The manufacturer likely doesn't understand fair use. He probably very well does by now. This is a pretty extreme pile-on. Not defending the value of the product.
@marcelpost4052: You fear youtube... That's sad..
@AudioMasterclass replies to @marcelpost4052: I fear a bogus channel strike more than I fear that the Grinch will steal Christmas. Such is the life of a YouTuber.
@marcelpost4052 replies to @marcelpost4052: @AudioMasterclass I'm not familiar with a grinch, but it's sad that someone like Tom Evans is treated with more respect than Mend it Mark. Louis Rossmann also provided some excellent comments.
@gsgregory2022: copyright enforcement is simply about silencing speech at this point. If youtube was at all being fair about it, it would require claims to actually be claims that lay out exactly what is infringed and how instead of being complete unknowns that you can't defend against. The entire system as made on youtube leaves creators in a lose lose situation holding all the risk, and holding all the requirements for proof.
@lickyweeks: Also see Rick Beato take on this.
@marvindebot3264: That amp is disgusting, it's a $500 amp at most. Selling that for $30000 should be a crime. Way, way too much of ultra high-end audio is a scam these days.
@JohnH108: Don’t put yourself down you DO look like the kind of person who has 1.8 million great British pounds to spare. 😁
@AudioMasterclass replies to @JohnH108: I appreciate the compliment and I shall set to work turning fantasy into reality.
@JohnH108: Louise Rossman has put the video back up.
@SidneyCritic: DIY audio kits were popular maybe 40 years ago, but if you look at the hardware in them they are orders of magnitude more advanced than that TE thing. TE even cheap-ed out with small PCBs, ie, 10off for $2, rather than a single big pro PCB probably costing $20 - lol -.
@nicwilson58: if you dont have the guts to stand up to bully companies, then dont post your chicken out nonsense
@cosmicdebris2223: errr I'm hearing this in German, what's going on???
@AudioMasterclass replies to @cosmicdebris2223: It’s a new YT feature that seems to think you are from the land of the currywurst. You should be able to turn it off in the player.
@cosmicdebris2223 replies to @cosmicdebris2223: @AudioMasterclass I managed to get it back to English. Many thanks. Though it is a really stupid modern 'let's be clever' thing these days, especially with YT it seems. What if I had just flown to China... would it suddenly bark at me in an AI translated Chinese I wonder? It's so stupid to write code that looks at an IP address or the likes and determines the person using it MUST be from that country. People should be allowed to choose what function they want. I suppose they'll argue "then use a VPN"... unnecessary cost and more to do for a simple function to stop a forced upon feature. Anyway, thx again!
@uplinktruck: Yes, the system is broken.
@DaleEarnhardtsSeatbelt: Its hilarious. If you search "tom evans" only mark and louis appear 😂
@AudioMasterclass replies to @DaleEarnhardtsSeatbelt: Wot?? Not me?
@thedevilinthecircuit1414: The shims are not cardstock from a Cheerios box. The material carefully balances all elements to achieve the ultimate end-result of design neutrality and total audio performance. The shims ensure your listening experience is presented with complete audio performance in mind, providing precision and lifelike clarity. Or something like that. Cheers, -Tom Evans
@ivansemanco6976: Whole claim system on Youtube is completely broken. In my opinion better way should be right for answer. If Im not satisfied with your opinion about my product, you are suppose to put my video answer on your channel. And viewers can decide who is right.
@russoft: dear viewer, save yourself 4 minutes. This man lacks the boldness to state anything definitively. That's his right, but it makes the video worthless.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @russoft: Dear Rus. You clearly know better than all of my other thousands of viewers. Why don’t you set up your own channel and tell them what to do.
@michaeleriksen4213: Great 👍👍👍👍👍
@garfieldsmith332: Hundreds of copyright True infringement videos on ewe-tube. Been there for a long time without ew-tube doing anything about it.
@K2teknik.: Do Tom Evans have a Youtube channel? I did search but nothing to be found.
@xxxyyy9544: You could purchase a demo unit fully refurbished by the wizard himself at a well known on-line auction house for a mere 12,500 sterling. Maybe worth a haggle and ask for a spare tantalum capacitor be thrown-in.
@computersales: I think is funny that this scandal has taken over the search results. At this point Tom Evans should change his name and hope no one notices.
@tychosis: I work on submarine sonar where actual measurable performance matters, and I am always stunned at how insufferable the audiophile community can be when I hear them talk their nonsense. It's no surprise the people selling them this woo garbage are just as insufferable.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @tychosis: I bet you could make a hell of a preamp if you wanted to.
@RobbieF: MasterGroove has now received the worst possible publicity, all due to their own stupidity. My hope is no one ever purchases another of their overpriced audio components!
@SeanChYT: Definitely worth $9999999999999999999999999. Lots of fun with Tom Evans MasterGroove videos.
@AndrewWilsonOz: Yes, they system is broken. I made a video with a Moby sound track on it. I have a licence from Moby to use that sound track. I was copyright claimed by a company, that does not even represent Moby. I counter claimed, with the licence number, and Youtube rejected my claim.
I counter claimed again, with the licence number, a PDF copy, same as before, and a pleading letter. This time I got the claim dropped. It should never have happened in the first place. The false claimant, got into zero trouble.
I have two other copyright claims on music I've used, even though one has a licence, and the other is released under free public use. The companies that make these false claims suffer zero consequences for their false actions.
With Youtube, you are guilty, till proven innocent, and sometimes, still held as guilty, when you clearly are not.
@AudioMasterclass replies to @AndrewWilsonOz: I once got copyright claimed for a sine wave. Automated of course and the claim was promptly released.
@fu1r4: If it has been taking down, where have they found the video to upload?
@I_Evo replies to @fu1r4: There are a number of sites that mirror YouTube where these deleted/taken down videos happily reside.
@igorszamaszow171 replies to @fu1r4: It's also on the web archive
@Kiss-My-Aura: Tom Evans aka Happy Shopper what a spanner....... keep re-upping
@mickeythompson9537: Tom Evans is a w⚓
@kirkhamandy: Louis Grossmann in a bit part <-- lol, not a bit part anymore!
