Sound Engineering at City of Westminster College

Students from the UK, Europe, USA, Japan, Korea and 12 other countries have qualified in Sound Engineering and Music Technology at City of Westminster College.

Many have gone on to work in Television, Recording and Live Sound, for companies such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Abbey Road Studios, The Royal Opera House and many other prestigious employers.

Some have set up their own recording studios and achieved success in Music Recording. Others have continued into Higher Education (University).

About City of Westminster College

The School of Sound Engineering within City of Westminster College has offered courses in Sound Engineering since 1981. We developed the City & Guilds of London Institute's 1820 Sound Engineering course and continue to offer both City & Guilds and BTEC/EdExcel courses in Sound Engineering and Music Technology.

Many of our teaching staff have worked in industry at the highest level. Our teaching methods, both in theory and practice, are dedicated to the needs of industry. Our aim is to provide our students with the skills they need to work in the Sound Engineering industry or in Music Technology.

We regularly consult representatives of top level industry to make sure our courses continue to offer the best preparation for our students.

About You

You are passionate about Sound Engineering and Music Technology equipment and techniques. You might be interested in music, but you could also be interested in speech and sound effects.

Your ambition is to become a Sound Engineer or Music Technology expert in Television, Radio, Recording, Live Sound or Film Sound. You probably do not want to become a musician or performer.

If you do want to become a musician or performer, you realize that City of Westminster College can help you in the technical side of music, in performance and the recording studio.

You are ready to prove to us in an interview that you have already committed yourself to sound engineering.
