How to add gated reverb to a snare drum using VerbSuite Classics

Gated reverb is an effect popularized in the 1980s and is useful particularly on individual drums when you want to have a very strong reverb but without it overlapping subsequent drum hits, making the overall sound less clear.

Gated reverb is an effect popularized in the 1980s and is useful particularly on individual drums when you want to have a very strong reverb but without it overlapping subsequent drum hits, making the overall sound less clear.

Or you could have reverb suddenly spring into life whenever there is a tom fill.

In this tutorial I'll add gated reverb to a snare drum using the Slate Digital Steven Slate Drums drum virtual instrument and also the Slate Digital VerbSuite Classics reverb plug-in.

The full tutorial with video and audio downloads is available in the Audio Masterclass Professional Course in Reverb & Effects

Note: Reverb can also be added using the natural echo chamber technique...
