Dubreq announces pro analog synth Stylophone GEN R-8 with touch keyboard

The Stylophone GEN R-8 is a dual VCO British made boutique synthesizer with a fully analog signal path and a touch keyboard that you can play with your finger.

The VCOs have "divide-down analog" sub-oscillators (one octave down) and subsub oscillators (two octaves down) that all can be switched on at the same time for a total of six oscillators sounding at once.

The filter is a proprietary British design 12 dB state variable filter with Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass and Wide Notch modes.

An eight waveform LFO with dual outputs can be patched to all of the GEN R-8s CV inputs or external CV inputs on other instruments.

There's a patch panel with 19 3.5mm jack CV/Gate and audio patch points which makes it integrate nicely with Eurorack systems.

The traditional ADSR envelope has been augmented with a short hold stage at the Attack/Decay peak for a punchier sound.

An analog style Delay (based on the Princeton pt2399 chip) is nice and grungy and can be modulated with the Time CV input.

The mixer has a unity AUX input which allows external sound sources to be processed through the GEN R-8s Filter/Delay/Drive audio chain, where the Drive is a classic British silicon diode overdrive circuit with an added JFET booster stage.

A step sequencer with 8 banks and 16 steps per sequence can play the GEN R-8 synthesizer engine or external synthesizers through the CV/Gate or MIDI outputs.

The GEN R-8 also works as a MIDI controller keyboard (with Local ON/OFF) where the CV/Gate outputs on the sequencer doubles as keyboard CV/Gate when the sequencer is not running.

Finally, the 3-octave touch keyboard has two additional performance keys for momentary engagement of Glide and Modulation, and it's all enclosed in a heavy duty black powder coated steel casing.

@Plexor_76:  So was this just an April’s fools joke? 😢😢 I was very interested but realized this wasn’t available 😭😭😭

@Stylophone replies to @Plexor_76: Really sorry. This video was released some time ago and the product is not currently available. We do have some exciting new products coming on line soon, so watch this space! ✌️❤️

@thexpat replies to @Plexor_76: @Stylophone still waiting on something cool like this to come out again, any updates?

@Stylophone replies to @Plexor_76: @thexpat Unfortunately it's unlikely we'll release the GEN R-8 again. We have lots of new products in development though. So keep em peeled!

@goblinmali2326:  stylophone without a stylus

@schautamatic:  I have to admit: THIS Stylophone’s got me intrigued!

@chickenjedi:  Is this something that will ever make it to market?

@rorz999 replies to @chickenjedi: It already did, but only 500 units ever made I think

@noizekiller:  Why it`s gone?

@azaira7736:  0:32 thx theme lol

@klinkske:  I never experience a eargasm like this

@sandra9390:  Wow

@klinkske:  That glide made me eargasm. And i watched the video on my phone...

@userunknown2771:  LETS GO

@Pezzr:  Stranger Things?

@Lanooski:  that moment when you JUST get the pun within the name of this product. i'm such a winner. :l

@evadum4149:  Will it be playable via a stylus too?

@badx001:  What are the device's dimensions?

@skrapadelix:  This sounds far better than it has by right too. Like an EDP Wasp crossed with a Polivoks. Definitely interested in this.

@superultrathanksmom3845:  2019 but looks like 2009 lol

@PaulWhibble:  Please repost with a better res video. We want to see it as well as hear it!

@brhodes0:  This would sound great through a Dubreq 125. Got that? Dubreq 1-2-5.

@thewomanwithnohead:  Eargasp in its pure form !

@T0ly113:  What a great device and terrible video

@hansmuller1980 replies to @T0ly113: muhahah

@MLowebrau:  Very cool

@synesthetica:  Tons of character! Warm, growly, lo-fi. I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist it. I just hope the pitch scaling is good and tuning stable.

@iantanner7579 replies to @synesthetica: exactly what i was thinking, - hopefully they'll get it right

@synesthetica replies to @synesthetica: @frostymmb For this reason I somehow prefer 1 osc synths if VCO's are used. 1 VCO with a sub can do the job for me.

@joestrangerearranged:  Around 0:23 it sounds like Saul Williams List Of Demands riff https://youtu.be/zDMtaIcrfQ0 intro.

@televiciousgoober:  need.

@DoctorBlankenstein:  This + volca modular = a lot of fun

@matthewcody1757 replies to @DoctorBlankenstein: DoctorBlankenstein yep with a ocoast

@lookapi replies to @DoctorBlankenstein: ✌👌

@iantanner7579:  i'm buying one, - just pre-ordered.

@jbowmanmusic:  Can it run on batteries?

@HotStrange:  Excuse me, what the fuck? How much am I gonna have to buy this year 😭

@Zinfidel1:  I read the keys output cv/gate? Hmmmmmm. I like it. You should totally release the touch keys as a eurorack module! Judging from the price of the Gen R8, it would be the most affordable touch plate module on the market! Just add an arp and 4 cv/gate outs for polyphonic playing. :P

@MUNRO13:  Sounds fucking mental. Love it!

@nephildevil:  this dude needs a new camera though :/

@xmus4023 replies to @nephildevil: 2008 retro

@fuzzpope:  Score!!

@PrimitiveInTheExtreme:  🎶.:very very very nice:.🎶

@frostymmb:  Can we get a better encoding of this video with better audio quality?

@fortheloveofnoise:  Generate

@prinzbach:  Damn... I never thought I would want a Stylophone SO bad ! Hopefully it will play well with my mother 32

@lecliche8849:  sounds and looks amazing

@aken2348:  Does this absolutely need the power cord?

@korywesterhold:  So gnarly! Can’t wait to pick one up!!

@synthanatomy:  sounds interesting. Looking forward to meet you at NAMM 2019 ;)
