New UK Distributor sees DJ’s discover PMC-08Pro & QFO System

DJ’s Qbert and Muzzell have hailed the Vestax PMC-08Pro Professional Hybrid Digital Mixer and QFO Systems.

The PMC-08Pro is the first scratch mixer with digital processing. It has an analogue to digital converter built in which enables DJ’s to shape the sound very precisely. “I got mine a few days ago and didn’t go out for 24 hours,” grins DJ Muzzell. “A function that does it for me is the up-faders; they have a new curve which means they cut in right at the top. Instead of having a long curve going from 0-10, it’s about 8-10, so super quick. No other mixer has that type of fade, it’s much more extreme. Another great built-in feature is the cross fader lag, you can change it so you can decide where you want the cut-in point to start. For usability it gives you loads of freedom and is very easy to scratch on.”

DJ Qbert is also a fan of the PMC-08, owning one in each colour; black and white. He was also behind the development of the Vestax QFO; a unique turntable and mixer unit all in one. Qbert asked for a new instrument for the 'turntablists’ of the next generation, to let them mix and scratch like playing a guitar. With Qbert testing it for a year and a half checking the best position for each knob and feature, tests for the 180 degree pitch control, dynamic straight-arm and cross fader were run over and over.

“The QFO is about extending boundaries, pushing creativity and setting a genre all of its own,” says Qbert. “I like to scratch on the beach and it was too much to have a mixer and turntables set up in my car. The QFO makes it compact and the whole system portable. It has long pitch control, which is very important. I love the rubber stoppers that Vestax make to put in the faders, For years I’ve been putting rubber bands at the end of my fader to make it feel soft instead of that clicky feel. It’s a nice touch.”

The QFO is about performance on the go. “The people who are using the QFO who are really excited by it,” says Qbert. “Vestax is synonymous with innovation, and of all the companies we've worked with Vestax was the only one willing to take on our ideas. That’s really cool and I have new ideas for future products that I also want to work with them on.”

When Vestax closed their UK offices in March 2006, Leisuretec Distribution took on exclusive UK distribution for all products.
