Celestion announces the availability of the F12-X200 guitar loudspeaker designed specifically for use with profiling amps, modeling software and impulse responses

Celestion, the premier manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers and professional audio drivers for sound reinforcement applications, is very pleased to announce the availability of the F12-X200 loudspeaker, the first guitar speaker designed specifically for use with profiling amps, modeling software, impulse responses, and all technology for emulating the tones from coveted guitar amps and speaker cabinets.

This technology is more popular than ever, and guitarists who use it are increasingly demanding full-range, flat, accurate frequency response. General-purpose pro audio speakers offer flat reproduction but are somewhat clinical sounding and lack the organic, immediate response guitar players want. On the other hand, traditional guitar speakers deliver immediacy and feel, at the cost of accuracy because they are purpose-built to generate more harmonic resonances the harder they are driven — which can undermine the work the profiling/modeling rig is already doing. Now the Celestion F12-X200 combines the best of both worlds, without any of the drawbacks.

The F12-X200 is a truly full range driver that delivers a frequency response from 60Hz all the way up to 20kHz, the higher frequency part of the signal is reproduced using a Celestion compression driver which has been integrated using a high quality crossover circuit. This enables the F12-X200 to reproduce the full spectrum of audible frequencies, for the most accurate output possible, whatever the environment or set-up.

The F12-X200's response is remarkably neutral, with Celestion technology built in to ensure there are no unwanted colourations that can overpower the input signal. However, the lighter moving mass and straighter sided cone of the type commonly used with guitar speakers gives the X200 the feel and live response of a traditional guitar speaker, delivering all the physical feedback you'd expect from playing through a conventional guitar rig.

On the side of immediacy, the F12-X200 employs proven design principles that have made Celestion royalty among guitar drivers since the dawn of rock and roll, such as straighter cone sides and a lighter moving mass compared with pro audio speakers. The physicality and tactile response of the speaker feels more live, just as it would be playing through a traditional guitar amp.

With the F12-X200, guitarists can enjoy the instant fingers-to-music connection of their favorite amp setup alongside the multitude of amp setups offered by their chosen amp and cabinet simulator. As realistic as modeling technology has become, the Celestion F12-X200 makes it more real.  Used with amp modellers or IRs, in a backline cab or a wedge monitor, on stage or in the studio, it doesn't just sound like great guitar tone, it feels like it too.
