niversal Audio today announced the simultaneous launch of two new single channel Mic preamplifers with Instrument DI. The SOLO/610 Classic Vacuum Tube Mic Pre & DI and the SOLO/110 Precision Class A Mic Pre & DI will bring UA to a totally new price segment.
"The Solo series mic-pre/DI combo are all about bringing UA quality, without sonic compromise, to a new audience and at a more 'wallet-friendly' price than ever before." Said Mike Barnes, Director Of Marketing for UA. " These are the real deal-revered 610 and 110 mic-pre's maintaining only the most essential features - what we call 'functionally lean-sonically mean', making the coveted UA sound more affordable but without sacrificing the signature sound."
Unlike stationary rack gear, the SOLO series uses a highly versatile form factor and can be conveniently used in the control room or recording room, on stage or desktop, due to the portable design.
Carefully crafted to maintain the sonic elements of their more expensive siblings like the 2-610/M610, 8110/4110, the SOLO series preamplifiers retain the component and sonic standards professionals expect, and combine the tonal variety of all Universal Audio products. The SOLO series is hand-assembled by Universal Audio in California.
The Universal Audio SOLO 110/ SOLO 610 and DI will be available from Universal Audio dealers worldwide in volume in Q1 2006. Final pricing is TBA, but will be well under $1000.
Universal Audio also announced that they will be contributing $25 for each of the first 1,000 orders they receive for their new Solo mic preamps to Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild homes recently damaged by hurricane Katrina. The money will go directly to Habitat for Humanity upon receipt of the orders for either the new Solo/110 or Solo/610 preamps until the $25,000 total is reached.
