"Untitled" by REBELLIOUS
After the instrumental is done, the track is rewired to Pro Tools. Depending on the nature of the song the first verse is recorded first.
It's always good to do a microphone check to make sure what's going in doesn't have any distortion. Too began with I like to use two tracks panned (C) to have the leading vocal strong and also get more flexibility during the mix down process.
The ad-libs are recorded next and panned L to R. I like for the artist to go in and out emphasizing on certain words to really bring out the deliverance. After the first verse is complete the chorus is recorded.
Depending on the mood of the song I may record two tracks at a time and then do some panning or I may record each track individually and pan each track at different angles.
After all of the vocals are in place the mix down process begins. I often add a EQ plug-in from Pro Tools and trim the low end of the vocals down. This is done by increasing the frequency rate of the low end.
After that, I add a compression. This can help balance the vocals, giving me more control over the peak levels. If some portions of the track requires it, I go in and add reverb and delays where necessary
After I am done mixing the track I do a playback to make sure nothing is peaking on the master track or any other track.
I then bounce the song to stereo and rip it to a cd.
