Ron Hoag offers a sample of his playing and composing. 'Secret Wish' has a haunting melody with a suggestion of 'the high school dance'. Listen closely, and you may your heart beating.

His easy style and full sound range of his instruments demonstrates the clarity and tonal range of his guitars.

Ron plays his unique HOAG OPTICAL PICKUP GUITARS. They have a tonalrange, from below and well above hearing. Optical pickups, have a soundthat defines "acoustic". This is because the string's sound is capturedin its entirety, by the use of light casting a shadow of the string'smovement. This method does not slow down nor hinder the movement of thestring. All other guitar pickups alter the true sound of the string.Magnetic pickups cause magnetic drag on the string and piezo pickups aredesigned to come into contact with the string.

His computer multi track recording, allows the freedom to play eachguitar separately and gives him the ability to develop counter melodies. Each guitar gives an example of the extraordinary sound and range of "secret wish". Cakewalk sonar software and an HP desktop computer, wasused to record. Ron prefers the use of outboard effects and uses realtime monitoring.

On a personal note, Ron is preparing a CD of his favorite tunes, he willalso use the midi capabilities of his guitars. A sample of the midisounds are available on his web site. When complete, the CD will beoffered for your listening pleasure and will have tunes that have beenpart of the pop and standard jazz music.

Please play these tunes on a large speaker system for full impact ofsound.
