Polyphonic Version of Dave Smith's Evolver Released

Dave Smith Instruments has announced the release of their second product, the Poly Evolver. The Poly Evolver is a four voice synthesizer with real analog oscillators, filters, and VCA's based on the Evolver voice structure. "Ever since the release of Evolver, customers have been requesting a polyphonic version," says Dave Smith. "So, I squeezed four Evolvers into a 1U rack module, and we now have the thickest, most versatile synth I've ever designed."
Each voice is essentially a complete Evolver, with 4 oscillators per voice, two analog and two digital. It has same true stereo signal path, with separate analog lowpass filters in each channel. Each voice has its own independent effects (distortion, delay, highpass filter, feedback, etc.). Also, each voice has an independent 16x4 step sequencer. This allows gated sequences controlled by the keyboard, for outrageous wave-sequencing effects. Everything syncs to MIDI, of course.
The Poly can be used in Program mode, where all four voices play the same sound. In Combo mode, voices can be allocated however desired; stack all 4 for a huge unison sound, or split the keyboard in any configuration. Or, play one or all sequences at the same time. Each voice can also respond to a different MIDI channel as desired.
Multiple Polys can be daisy-chained for more polyphony, with built-in audio chaining for simplicity. A "Poly Chain" mode handles voice assignment overflow for easy expansion to 8, 12 or even 16 voices.
Each voice has its own stereo output jacks, in addition to the mix output. There is a stereo audio input that can be routed to any or all of the voices, enabling parallel audio processing of external stereo or mono signals. The output of one voice can be routed to the input of another for interesting double-processing effects.
The Poly comes with a free stand-alone editor for both the PC and the Mac (OSX). The Poly is also fully programmable from the front panel.
