Custom pickup manufacturer Swineshead Pickups is now offering single coils in addition to their existing range of humbuckers.
There are currently two different single coils models available, the classic sounding Spotlight and the high output Pyro. The Spotlight is aimed at a player seeking smooth traditional tones while the Pyro is designed for the player who prefers a more modern aggressive sound. The Spotlight's DC resistance of 6k compares with the Pyro's resistance of 11k, both pickups use custom made Alnico V magnets.
Because each pickup is hand-made a wide variety of options are available in terms of looks and sound. Pickups can be any color ranging from the traditional blacks and white to brighter colors such as red, green and blue. For a more unusual look the pickups can also be made from a variety of attractive woods - anything from the familiar mahogany and maple to a wide range of exotic hardwoods and burrs.
The price for a coloured humbucker is £28. Wooden coils are a little more selling for £38 each.
