Firstly though, let me tell you that I have been involved in audio training since 1986. That is 22+ years of experience. You can find out more about my background here, if you wish.
I have spent more than 22 years teaching people how to get the best from their studio equipment, and how to produce great recordings.
That is what I guarantee* that the Audio Masterclass course will do for you. (*If it doesn't, I'll refund ALL of your enrollment fee.)
The course will help you in three ways...
By clearly explaining how each piece of studio equipment works, and how you can get the best from it. (And by showing you how everything works together.)
With audio examples (over 1000) so that you can hear how things should, and shouldn't, sound.
With practical assignment projects, so you can steadily improve your skills.
You can of course learn all of this by trial-and-error. Some people really have done that. It takes a long time though, and it's not certain that you will succeed.
I've known people struggle for years trying to get good recordings on their own. They might have great equipment. But even the best equipment in the world won't help if you don't know how to use it properly.
Module 1 of the course is all about the basics of audio, the stuff you really need to know. It goes through how sound works, studio acoustics, and there's an easy primer on electronics and decibels. Do you really want to know what harmonic distortion is? You need to, and you will learn it in Module 1.
In the audio example section of Module 1 you will hear examples of good and bad audio. You'll hear recordings that are noisy, recordings that are quiet; recordings that are distorted, recordings that are clean; recordings that have a poor frequency range, recordings that have a full, rich sound.
By the end of Module 1 you will know clearly what makes a good recording, and what can go wrong so easily if you're not careful.
But there's more... the practical assignment project.
Module 1 is all about the basics, and you can't get more basic than making a simple recording of speech.
You have to be able to do this to a professional standard, otherwise how could you possibly achieve anything more complicated?
But you would be amazed how many people get this wrong! Module 1 includes recordings of all the things that can possibly go wrong. It also shows you clearly what the professional standard is. It isn't difficult, but you do have to know the right way to go about it.
By the way, here's an important point...
The course shows you with audio examples where you're going right, and where you're going wrong. If you have any doubts about whether your recordings are professional, the Audio Masterclass Music Production and Sound Engineering Online Course will make sure that you are 100% heading in the right direction.
Take advantage of our 22 years of experience in Audio Training (that's more than almost anyone else, and definitely more than anyone else on the web)...
The Audio Masterclass Music Production and Sound Engineering Online Course has been fine-tuned with the benefit of more than twenty years of experience to be the most direct way to achieve professional recordings.
The course is continuously updated with new material so that it is fully up to date with new technologies and new musical styles.
Each module consists of...
Main course text (500+ pages in the entire course)
Check questions, so that you can measure how you are progressing
Model answers to the check questions, so that you are never in doubt
Audio example files (more than 1000 in the entire course)
Detailed notes and commentary on the audio example files
Practical assignment project
Detailed notes, commentary and audio examples on how the practical project should done, and what it should sound like.
And...
You can hear recordings made all the way from home studio level all the way up to the very first-class of commercial recording studio facilities. You can listen to these recordings, and we will show you in detail how they were made.
There's nothing you could possibly buy that would make anywhere near the same amount of improvement to your work as this course will.
Module 2 is all about Microphones. How microphones work, how different types and models sound, how to select and position microphones. By the end of the module you'll be a microphone expert. Well, you'll need to gather some experience too, but the module will show you exactly what to do to make quick progress.
Module 3 is about Microphone Preamplifiers. The signal from the microphone is delicate, so you need to treat it with great care if it's going to sound at its best. Module 3 will show you how to select a preamplifier, and how to operate it properly.
By the way, here's an important point...
You can get a lot of useful information from recording magazines. But don't forget that they exist to support their advertisers. They want you to buy, buy, buy more and more equipment. But if you don't know how to operate your equipment professionally, and understand what a professional recording sounds like, then you stand little chance of getting good results.
Earn a CERTIFICATE that the audio industry will RESPECT!
Traditionally the audio industry hasn't been very interested in certificates. They are only interested in what you can do.
And it has to be said that there are a lot of ex-students from other training organizations who haven't much of a clue about what they are doing - I've met many of them!
But the Audio Masterclass 'certificate' is very different to all the others...
The Audio Masterclass course leads to something vastly BETTER than any certificate. At the end of the course you will create...
A SHOWREEL!
What is a showreel? Let me explain...
You can't get work from a potential client or employer unless you can demonstrate to them what you can do.
The best way of doing this is by showing them your industry credits. That would be, for example, "Engineered by ..." in a CD booklet. Or a resumé of other clients or employers you have worked for.
Alternatively, you can simply hand over your showreel.
Your showreel will be a compilation on DVD or CD of extracts from your best work.
And Module 12 of the Audio Masterclass course will demonstrate exactly what a showreel should be like, and how you can set about making one.
You can even send it in to Audio Masterclass and we will advise you on how professional it is, compared to industry showreels.
So even if a potential client or employer hadn't heard of Audio Masterclass, they would still know exactly what you are capable of from your showreel.
And...
We will assess your showreel and advise you how to improve it FREE OF CHARGE. There is no additional cost on top of your normal enrollment fee. When your showreel comes up to our high professional standards, you will receive a certificate from Audio Masterclass to prove your ability. It will look great hanging on your studio wall too.
Back to the module guide...
Module 4 is all about Equalization. How equalizers work, how different types and models sound, why you should EQ and when you should not. Learning about equalization and how to do it is an important element in being able to shape and blend sounds. Equalization is an absolutely vital component in crafting a clear, strong mix.
Module 5 is about Compressors. Compressors add magic and sparkle to your sound. Did you know there are five different types of compressors? Module 5 will explain them all in detail and show you what they sound like.
By the way, here's an important point...
You can't set a compressor by trial and error. It will take ages, and it will take you just as long next time you want to use it. You NEED to understand EVERY CONTROL on the compressor before you can master it.
I would like to show you why the Audio Masterclass course is BETTER than learning in a conventional school or college.
Could you imagine yourself learning audio in a school or college with facilities dedicated to that purpose?
Yes? Well consider this... to equip such a facility and let every student have a reasonable amount of studio time, is expensive.
That's why you could pay upwards of $10,000 for your course. That's TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!
And if you go somewhere that costs less, you'll get less time on the equipment.
But you already have your own equipment, capable of professional results! All you need is a decent microphone, audio interface and your computer.
So in a conventional school or college, you would be paying for something that you already have. It doesn't make sense.
So here's what you get with Audio Masterclass that you don't get with a conventional course...
22 years of experience in audio training.
Realistic course fee.
Flexibility of timescale - take up to two years to finish if you like.
Study at home.
Study when you like.
You're free from the distracting influence of other students who may not be as dedicated as you.
Create your own SHOWREEL, with our assistance (I mentioned earlier why it is respected by potential clients and employers).
Full-refund guarantee! You won't get that from many audio schools.
Module 6 is all about Recording Software. Whether you use Pro Tools, Cubase, Digital Performer, Logic, Sonar or any other professional software (or even Audacity, which is free!) you will learn professional techniques that will make your recordings perfect, ready for mixing and mastering.
Module 7 is about Effects and Plug-ins. Now we're getting to the creative side of recording. But where amateurs will click on one plug-in, then another, never quite getting the right sound, you will know exactly which plug-in to use, and how to adjust the settings. Plug-ins can be complicated, but the Audiomasterclass course will show you clearly the most important controls you need to understand.
Module 8 is about Synthesis and Sampling. These are the two elements of music technology that are most important in the recording studio. Almost every commercial recording released incorporates at least one of these techniques. The module is streamlined and to-the-point, showing you what you need to know to improve your recordings in the fastest time.
Module 9 is about Recording Techniques. There's so much to know - Vocals, drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, string instruments, wind instruments, percussion instruments, drums, small groups and ensembles, orchestral recording, multitrack recording, punch-in, foldback, stereo recording. It's all in this module!
By the way, here's an important point...
Online learning is wonderfully flexible. You can fit it around your regular work. Go as quickly or slowly through the course as you please - take up to two years to complete if you wish.
Why the Audio Masterclass course will be the best INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF that you ever made.
Ask yourself the question, are you pleased with your recordings?
If you are not totally pleased with your recordings, and you can hear that they are not professional yet, surely you need to do something about this?
You could buy some more equipment. A $2000 microphone will sound a little better then the $200 model you already have.
So a better microphone might make a 15-20% difference for 10 times the cost! (It's only 15-20% because you may not know how to get the best out of it yet.)
But the Audio Masterclass course will do so much more than that. Whatever the standard of your recording now, I guarantee* that the course will get you to a professional standard of work. (*You are guaranteed a full refund if you are not absolutely delighted with the course.)
Here's why...
The course covers sound, acoustics and the elements of electronics. These are your raw materials. Can a top restaurant chef create a wonderful meal without understanding the ingredients?
The course covers each item of equipment, showing you exactly how it works and how to operate it professionally. With audio examples!
Audio Masterclass concentrates on the things a PROFESSIONAL needs to know. 100% professional and 0% amateur. That's because all of the information is sourced directly from professional practice.
Did I mention 22 years of experience?
Module 10 is about Mixing. In this module you will receive a professionally-produced 24-track multitrack recording for you to mix yourself. You can hear how each of the individual vocals and instruments were recorded and blend them together any way you like. It's like working in a pro studio!
Module 11 is about Mastering. Mastering adds the final gloss of professionalism to your work. But it's so easy to get it wrong and end up with something that sounds horrible. Module 11, with its audio examples, will show you how to get a sound that really can compete with the pros.
And Module 12, the final module...
Here's an important point...
Module 12 is about marketing your work - your music or your recording services. If you really want to become a professional, this module will show you EXACTLY what you need to do to become successful.
It really is time now for you to take charge of your future and take the next step, which is to enroll.
If you don't enroll, then you will be stuck learning the old trial-and-error way, which could take ages and you might never get to the level of professionalism you want.
If you do enroll, then you are on a 12-module direct route to success in recording. Just look at all the testimonials at the bottom of this message. Could all these people be wrong?
So, take the step. Enroll now. I am fully, totally, 100% confident that you will come to say that this is the best thing you ever did.
And at the end of the course, you will be sending me a testimonial too to add to my collection!

"I am now starting my revision, having gone through all the modules, and I wish to say how pleased I am at having purchased your course. I have learned so much PRACTICAL knowledge that is never obvious from academic texts- of which I have read many. I believe value for money is exceptional and the embedded questions really point the student in the direction of understanding the subject matter. As someone with a 35 year long interest in the subject of audio recording and experimentation- I can say that the course is hard but thorough- it does tax me at times, but rarely have I found the text to be so enlightening. My light bulb has lit many times over the past months." - Karl Madden
"I have received my certificates and they are beautiful, but more importantly I have been awarded admission to a university in Florida. "Your course is perfect. I have learnt a lot from the classes I took. Your knowledge and teaching strategies are great. You have been one of my favorite teachers and you will always be. Thank you so much." - Girish Gorkhali
"Already, you have saved me hundreds of dollars in recording, because now engineers get the idea that I know a bit more about what they are doing. You have helped me keep them on there toes, not so much, with my strict business attitude, of which I'm known for, but that I'm paying more attention with an understanding of the technical recording process." - Norman A. Woods
"I am happy to have completed your masterclass course with distinction last year. The course was exceptionally good. Is there an extended course on offer (Is the level 4 mentioned the same course, I think mine was a level 3)?" - Mark A. James
