This song was another track where basics were cut in a studio, and overdubs done on an MBox. For the lo-fi guitar sound of the intro, we plugged into a tiny, broken-looking guitar amp in the studio, and turned the volume up all the way. It sounded terrible, just as we hoped.

Mics on the guitars were SM57's, AKG C3000's, RE-20's, and SM81's. Vocal mic was a RODE NT2000.

I usually change the guitar, amp, or mic for each layer when recording this many tracks of guitars. It leaves less to do in the mix in terms of defining a space for each instrument if they already sound a bit different to begin with.

You'll notice some percussion in there too - that was all tracked with the AKG C3000.
