As a new student in the School of Sound Engineering & Music Technology within City of Westminster College, you will be working with basic professional sound equipment, such as...

  • Small mixing consoles
  • Tape recorders
  • Digital recorders
  • Power amplifiers
  • Loudspeakers
  • Effects units

All practical sessions are 'hands-on' and you will usually work in a team of two people.

Audio Electronics practical sessions use special electronic teaching aids in combination with computer software that allows you to build, test and understand simple audio circuits.

The School of Sound Engineering & Music Technology also has a professional standard recording studio situated with the college's Cockpit Theatre (a licensed off-West-End performance venue). All students have the opportunity to progress through our range of courses and eventually work on performances at the Cockpit Theatre. The most advanced students will be able to work in the control room of the recording studio.
